Introducing our deadly new Marram Nganyin Youth Mentoring Project Officer, Ardu Cubillo!

We\’re excited to welcome to the team, Ardu Cubillo!

I am a descendant of the Wadjigan and Larrakia clans. I was born and raised on Larrakia country and have proudly called Naarm (Melbourne) home for the past ten years.

I was raised by matriarchs who nurtured me strong in culture, love and identity. They gave me the courage and determination to leave home at the age of eleven to move to Naarm for a better education and access to opportunities I couldn’t get back home. Their guidance and support got me to where I am today.

As a young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women growing up, I have always felt a responsibility to my family, community and especially young mob. In everything I do I aspire to drive change and work towards creating a brighter future for the current and upcoming generations. When I first heard about the Marram Nganyin Youth Mentoring program I knew exactly that this was the space I wanted to work in and that this is where I can make real change happen.

I never imagined to be in a role such as mine especially at this age and am proud to say that I broke the stereotypes and prejudice placed on me growing up. I am so grateful to be working at Koorie Youth Council (KYC) where I get to make a positive impact and create real change for young mob. I hope I can be an inspiration to mob and show that you can achieve and be whatever you wish to.
