PROJECTS

Koorie Youth Council (KYC) operates within Victoria, ensuring that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people are represented across areas where young people may be influenced and affected by policies and practices statewide.

KYC’s work is dynamic and broad. Our core purpose is to bring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people together to create a culturally safe space to amplify our voices for positive change. Below are some of the projects we’ve led:

Ngaga–dji Young voices creating change for justice

The Ngaga-dji (hear me) project voices the experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in Victoria’s youth justice system. Ngaga-dji is driving the change Victoria’s youth justice system needs to enable Aboriginal children to thrive in their communities.

Wayipunga rESOURCE

Wayipunga (supporting young people) is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth participation framework that provides workers, organisations and government with strategies to support young people’s participation in decision-making processes. The framework is made up of three sections: Values, Knowledge and Actions. All three are interrelated and each informs the other.
